Yes, that is the first of 5 pilot cars from Kawasaki (R160B)...8713-8714-8715-8716-8717...they will all be in by the end of next week. Another pilot set from Kawasaki should be in next month. As for the ALSTOM R160A's....who knows?

And I see that they are using the same sequence road numbers that the IRT R28/29 and R33/36 Redbirds were using not too long ago...

I like the looks of the cars too, that's how we should get our next car model for my Red Line Trains of MBTA :-)

o.O im not all that surprised at the exterior of the R160. Its the interior i want to see soooooo badly! Hopefully seating arrangements are like the R68s or the R32s. Although the front part looks kinda different too me. Its like the front looks more wider and more curved. The Cab must be impressive

the interiors are probably just like the R143s (although i really wish theyd do away with that extremely light interior), i also noticed the R160s have a few more grab iron things on the front of the car then the R143s do, does wnyone know why with the R143s and now the R160s they went back to the old oull down style cab window, the last car before the R143 to use it was the R32.

I like the Double Windows like what the R142/A/S uses.

For the interior, don't expect anything special. If a new design works, the next new pool of subway cars will carry pretty much an identical design, so as to not uselessly spend more $$ on a new design. (Notice how the R44's and R46's are very similar)

put it this way

r26 and r 28 same r 33ML and r36ML same R36WF and R33WF same

R32 and R38 preety much the same R40M and R42 same

R44 and R46 same

not every fleet of cars needs a new desine just new updated features motors and so on

With the interior, I have spoken to someone who has seen the interior (although it was kind of dark out so it was hard to see stripmaps and such.) However, the seating is the same, but the walls are metal, no wallpaper...that may change later.

The R-160B's are looking good for now. As for the R-160A's, I hope Alstom has their things together.

I'm glad to see the metal walls. However, I do like the wallpaper look on the R44.

Can't wait to see any pictures of their interior! :-D
