I'm pretty sure the fare would have to be calculated via Rochester and would end up equaling Cdga-Roch + Roch-NY vs. Cdga-NY. Anybody watching the pennies would have to spend time rather than money.

I have an inquiry out as to the train crew. Wondering if they are actual NYC men, or possibly actors as well.

EDIT - Help the technically-challenged old guy out here. I can pause the action, but how do you make a screen grab or still pic of what is there at that time? As I posted this, my friend answered back that he could not see the faces clearly enough. If I can get a still shot of 26.24 and 26:58 I can see if that helps.

On a PC, you can pause the video on the scene you want, the press and hold the "Alt" key, then while "Alt" is being held down, also press the "Print Screen" key. That will save a copy of the screen to the clipboard. Then, open an imaging program and hit paste. then you have an image you can treat the same as any other photo.

I’m wondering if the scenes at the county fair are actually Roseland Park. The rides looked familiar.

There’s more background info on the movie here:

If you want another movie from the same era shot in upstate with some local scenes, watch the RG&E documentary on Rochester, a City of Quality:

Roseland is certainly possible, but I kind of got the impression it might have been the Ontario County Fair. Or maybe a firemens' carnival.

I liked the "Rochester--a City of Quality" film, but I wonder who told the filmmakers Genessee fever was "Nathaniel Rochester's rash." I don't think anybody knows for sure, but most typically this was malaria. Yes, in upstate NY--it was a scourge among the Erie Canal workers.

I printed off the 3 screen shots above, and took them to a party for an old-timer today. He says the brakeman who helps the kid up the steps very strongly looks like a Rochester man named Walter Deummel (sp? Duemmel? ). Walter WAS qualified on passenger and did work the Old Road trains at times. The 2 shots of the conductor just don't connect with him, nor with the other 2 older NYC men who were there.

We're running out of resources, not too many left who would possibly recognize them.
