I work at a restaurant (in a suburb of Birmingham) that is just steps away from a Norfolk Southern crossing. Recently ---well, since Hurricane Katrina, really--- trains going through the crossing have been hauling loads of campers. Since Birmingham would very likely be on the route between Washington, D.C. and New Orleans, would these campers be for Hurricane Katrina victims?[/size]

NS is unloading trainloads of temporary housing units (trailers), in the Selma, Alabama yard. They are stored at the old AFB in Selma, then transported to locations determined by FEMA. The AFB has literally thousands of these things, stored in long rows, along the ROW of the M&B. Regards :wink:

These trains are coming from Elkhart, IN. From what I understand, they'll be running these well into this year. They're numbered 041 and 043, and usually seem to have a pair of four axle locomotives. They're also great trains to catch some of the older power on.
