Just to give a little info on the FEC situation regarding the hurricane.
In the Fort Lauderdale area, they removed the arms from the crossing
gates and shut down so far as I know all of their trains. This occurred most likely on Friday.
As of Monday, September 6th, they had crews working in this area to
restore the crossing protection to operation and replaced the gate arms
although the rails were still coated with rust.
I suspect that they suffered more damage to the north than they did in
this area.
Will advise on here again if and when I see any signs of train movements.

How did the FEC's right of way through Vero Beach fare? Also, how did the Disney Resort just outside of Vero Beach fare?

I have no idea of the extant of damage if any to the FEC north of Fort
Lauderdale area.
Understand they are running again today, Wednesday, Sept. 8th.

Saw a huge southbound van/container/stack train go through Fort
Lauderdale about 11:30PM Wednesday, September 8th.
Might have been stuff sitting somewhere waiting for track repairs or
whatever to be completed.
FEC is back running again.

What did they do with the Locomotives during the Storm?

The FEC prepared for an orderly shutdown, crossing gates were removed
and items were like secured.
I would assume that this also applied to their locomotives and most likely,
they were put in at major terminals along their route.
An item in today's Sun-Sentinel stated that there were three trains, each
two miles long, enroute south with relief supplies, lumber etc.

There was a very interesting article in the Sun-Sentinel for today, Friday,
Sept. 10th, about the long trains and delays at crossings.
Here is a link but I could not link up the article, when you get the paper,
go to the left side and go to channels and just under that click on "South
Florida News" and after that comes up, scroll down a little bit and the
article will appear, I hope.
