I'd forgotten to do this. I don't get in the train show mindset until October usually.

Appears the TTCS website is down/gone.

Shows in italic are not confirmed

September -

Weekend 9/7-9/8 - Clayton NY - 36th Annual Thousand Islands Model Train Fair, Cerow Rec Park Arena

Weekend 9/21-9/22 - Hemlock NY - Hemlock Train Show, fairgrounds

Weekend 9/21-9/22 - Massena NY - Train, Toy and Collectible Expo, Massena Arena

October -

Sunday 10/13 - Buffalo (Depew) - TTCS Buffalo Falling Leaves show, Polish Falcons (confirmed via web post)

Sunday 10/13 - Batavia - GSME Great Batavia Train Show, GCC Call Arena (confirmed via website)

Sunday 10/20 - Kingston - Kingston NY Model RR & Hobby Show, Midtown Neighborhood Center. (Currently not updated on show webpage )

Sunday 10/27 should be the Trainorama in Lancaster but I haven't found any confirmation yet.

November -|

November this year has an extra weekend before Thanksgiving which no one seems to be using for a show.

Weekend 11/2-11/3 - Syracuse, Great New York State Model Train Fair, NYS Fairgrounds Expo Center (new building)

Sunday 11/10 - Poughkeepsie - Hyde Park Station Annual Train & Hobby Show, Mid Hudson Civic Center (looks like a week later than usual)

Weekend 11/9-11/10 - Fulton - Oswego Valley Model RR Club fall show, Volney Fire Department

Saturday 11/9 - Binghamton - Binghamton Regional Train Show, Legion Post 1645

Saturday 11/23 - Albany - Albany Train Show, Polish Community Center Washington Ave. Ext.

Weekend 11/23-11/24 - Buffalo - WNYRHS Train & Toy show, Erie County Fairgrounds

There probably is a TTCS Thanksgiving show in Rochester on either the 17th or Dec. 1. Here again their website is down and while there's an active Facebook page nothing has been posted there.

December -

Sunday 12/1 - Buffalo (N. Tonawanda) - TTCS Trains in the Tonawandas show, Knights Of Columbus Erie Ave (could also be Dec. 8)

Sunday 12/8 - Albany - Great Train Extravaganza, Empire Convention Center

Weekend 12/14-12/15 - Rochester - RIT Tiger Tracks, RIT Gordon Field House

Chuck's Train Room typically holds a show at the Sanborn Fire Hall east of Niagara Falls on the second Sunday in December also, nothing is posted yet. Here again the calendar goofs things up, usually Bob Kleinmann's N. Tonowanda show is the same day as the GTE show. But GTE is the second Sunday in December - I recall some years ago they held it on Dec. 1 or 2 and all the other events there were a week later, so it didn't do as well. I can't picture Bob and Chuck's Train Room going heads up when it's mostly the same vendors at both. Probably at Batavia everyone will have their flyers out and I can update then.

There's been a little show at the Broadway Market typically the weekend following RIT, but they won't have anything out for it until later in the fall. it is a small show, three or four local vendors.

We had a brief visit to the New York State Fair last week and ducked into the Fairgrounds Expo building. I think it'll be a nice upgrade. A little farther to walk in from the main gate but if I recall correctly it was possible to park on the actual fairgrounds versus what happens during the State Fair. I have not been to the train show in several years so my memory could be faulty on this.

Train Fair has been in the Exposition Center at least since 2021, I found a reference to it being in the Center of Progress for 2019.

All of the asphalt area in front of and to the south side is event parking, plus the stone dust lot behind it and street parking on the north side. But you could always park on the grounds for non-Fair events.

couple updates.

I forgot about a potential Rails Along The Mohawk fall show in Amsterdam, but I've seen no sign of them planning one. IIRC last year they had one the same day as fall Batavia but I never saw anything to even confirm until after the fact.

Also, the spring Batavia show is now going to be a winter show the second weekend in January, the 12th in 2025. GCC moved them due to needing the facility for other events in early April and it appears the change is permanent. It's good that it can be on a consistent week each year (no need to shuffle around Easter), and it doesn't conflict with anything although there is potential to go against Utica if the calendar is weird. It's bad in that the weather is a lot more unpredictable, Utica's been cancelled a couple times for snow and there's been years it's been super cold. But there's not a lot of choice in dates, a lot of weekends have other shows going on and you probably wouldn't want to run it back to back weeks with Hamburg. So I guess we'll see how it goes.

Tenative spring 2025 listing:

Batavia Jan 12
Utica Jan 19
Toy Train Show (formerly Train-o-rama) Cheektowaga Jan 26
Jeff Olin Auction Binghamton Jan 26 (this is Springfield weekend) (could be 25th)
TTCS Snowball show Depew Feb 9
Hamburg Feb 15-16
new Syracuse show Feb 15-16 (?)
Edgerton Feb 22
Binghamton March 8
Camillus March 9
Sanborn (Niagara Falls) March 9
Rochester Greenberg March 15-16
Albany Polish Center March 15
Shamrock show Rochester TTCS ?
Amsterdam April 6
TTCS Spring Into Summer April 6
TTCS/NOME Lockport April 12/13
Fulton Spring show April ? May? I presume they will pick a date not opposite York.

This new Syracuse show had flyers out at the NYS Fair show, but website didn't work. It's going to be small, 50-80 tables from guestimating by the building size. They're aiming to try to replace the old Eastwood show I think but without any of the things that made that show work.

Most of these conflicts won't hurt each other too much other than a few dealers. 1 or 2 Albany show dealers would do Greenberg also, and maybe the same number have to pick between Hamburg and this new show (if that happens). I'll have to do the math for Greenberg vs. Albany but I'm already leaning Albany for the same reasons I went to their show today.

Which, it was busy until 1:30, my sales were ok - within $20 of my average sales for fall Hamburg but in one day and with a good $100 less in expenses with no hotel and only one day's meals. Plus a nicer drive and a nice breakfast stop. Probably will make this a regular for the fall. Spring one sometimes conflicts with Binghamton; Binghamton is cheaper to do (closer to home, cheaper tables) for roughly the same sales and about the same ease of access for the load in/out.

One new date for 2024, the CNY Living History Center in Cortland is indeed having their Holiday Model Train Day & Sale on Saturday Dec. 14th. Right on Rt. 11 by the upper Cortland-Homer exit.

Albany was visibly down and so were my sales, although many others said they did well. Last report on attendance was over 2000, but some years it's like 3500.

Did the little CNY Living History show in Cortland today. It was slower than last year but I sold more, sold more than I did the last time I went to RIT although that was I think 2020 and I only stayed one day.

They say they advertised but I didn't see anything about it until 2 weeks ago.

Someone I know went to RIT and said it was busy. It usually is, though, just doesn't translate to sales.
