Trying to find out more information on an ex-R&N U23B that
was sold to Fore River Transportation in Quincy, Ma. Unit
in R&N green & yellow and numbered 2372.

Anyone know anythng more about the GE? Can't find anything
on an ex-R&N 2372.

A photo of it in transit at Framingham, Mass claims its ex-2395,
but the editor of Extra 2200 South says that unit was scrapped.

Thanks,

Dave

The first 2395 was the Conrail Express unit, it was demolished in a head on in Leesport, Pa, in 1995 or 96. It was an ex CR, nee LV unit.

The second 2395 was from CSX, nee L&N, I don't know the earlier numbers, it's now at the NY Cross Harbor Railroad.

I don't know anything else in regards to 'em.

It should be CSXT/SBD 3317, nee-L&N 2861 (2816?). Trying
to get a batch number check off the unit to aid in id'ing it.

Fore River Transportation is in Quincy MA, immediately southeast of Boston. A former Bethlemen Steel/General Dynamics shipyard is used by the MWRA (Mass Water Resources Authority - the folks responsible for cleaning up Boston Harbor) as a sludge-to-fertilizer-pellets plant. The RR serves them. Also, the RR owners own a former Proctor & Gamble soap products plant immediately east of the shipyard, and they ship in-and-out.

This RR interchanges with CSX in Braintree MA, just north of the MBTA Braintree Station. There is a small interchange yard.

To locate this area, go to mapquest.com and put in the following:

Address or Intersection: Quincy Ave & E Howard St
ZIP Code: 02169

This RR was known formerly as Quincy Bay Terminal. Much of QBTs former equipment found its way to northern New England, to the Conway Scenic RR, Hobo RR, and a facility in N Stratford NH.
