It has been reported on the LocoNotes group that some of UP's ex-CNW C40-8s have been sold to RELCO. Should be interesting to see where they end up next.

Assuming that they are serviceable and reasonably priced, these would be a logical upgrade for shortlines and regionals that are currently running U30Cs, C30-7s, and the like.

Anybody know if the ex-CNW C41-8s, which are a year or two newer than the C40s, will also be leaving UP?

I saw an IC&E train going north on the Belt Railway of Chicago friday night that had 7 or 8 of them behind the ICE power. It makes sense now!

so, out of curiousity, what is relco doing with these units? I haven't seen pictures with massive UP GE's sitting there.. are they scrapping them or did they resell them to someone outside the border??

Were these units equipped with cab signal equipment?
