Built at the main plant in Munich, the Vectron is the smaller but older European brother of the Amtrak Cities Sprinter (ACS-64). The main difference between the European and American variants of course is weight and mass, as the FRA has much stricter crash-resistance norms. So it's a bit like cars and the difference between European and American cars, well at least historically.
The European Siemens Vectron has been a real bestseller and sold over 1000 times in various versions and for both standard and broad gauge (Finland).
Even though the Vectrons have therefore become about as common as sand on a beach, a large number of different operators, each with their own color schemes and livery variations, keep things fresh enough visually.
What is noteworthy, is that the Vectron actually sounds quite good, especially at start-up with a heavy load. Here's a short film that captures the Vectrons in
