Hard to believe that so many of the DL&W RS-3's survive, but only one GP-7 (as a locomotive). All we need is a 244 and black paint !!!

I'm still researching for any others that might still be out there...

I have found another survivor laboring in the South:
Mississippian Railway Alco S-1 #321
Built 4/50- Builder #77080
Sold 4/67- has retained the same roster # thru her entire career! (Erie>EL>MSRW)
EL began to dispose of their S-1s in the mid to late '60s so they departed before the final economic crunch began to seriously defer maintenance. MSRW also had an S-1 #314 (stored OOS) which might be ex-EL 314 but uncertain. This was only listed in my Kalmbach Diesel Locomotive Rosters guide (3rd Ed. 1992) and have seen no other evidence of her existence or scrapping. Parts unit?
The Texas & Northern / Lone Star Steel purchased #306 and #312 but later sold them. Is there a way to trace them based on the builder #? Also, how does one locate units that were sold to industries?

I added 321 to the list!
and as for Industrial locos..we found a ton of them!

all industrial locos.
there is a guide published once a year "The Comprehensive Guide to Industrial Locomotives"
many EL survivors were found in that guide..
the survivor list just jumped from 54 to 80!!

Just when you think the list is complete, I did a little research and found two more C-424ms of ex-EL heritage!
The 1st unit is currently Minnesota Commercial #62:
EL #2405 (built 6/63) > CR #2479> rebuilt (5/80) to D&H 462 > G&W #62 (9/85) > Guilford #62 > Minnesota Commercial (MNNR) #63
NOTE: builder's plate #84547
The 2nd unit is Minnesota Commercial #63:
EL #2408 (built 6/63) > CR #2482 > rebuilt (5/80) to D&H 463 > G&W #63 (9/85) > Guilford #63 > Minnesota Commercial (MNNR) #63

Considering that MNNR seems to be getting rid of their Alcos, I wouldn't be surprised if another shortline gets these units. As with the other C-424ms, they are currently rated at 2000 HP.

Hopefully, in "death" they will give "life" to other Alcos, perhaps even for a shortline or two in upstate, NY.

Erie 524, an Alco S2, has been discovered still earning her living, as Relco 1019.

EL surviving locomotive news!
Four EL SDP45's have been sold, their owner in recent years has been Union Pacific. The units are:
EL 3654 - UP 2767
EL 3659 - UP 2772
EL 3666 - UP 2769
EL 3668 - UP 2768
They have been rebuilt, and are now classified as EMD SD40M-2 units, but they still retain the SDP45 carbody. They four units have been sold to the Missouri & Northern Arkansas Railroad (MNA,) headquartered in Carthage, Missouri, which is a Genesee & Wyoming regional system. We might be seeing some of these in snazzy G&W orange soon!

EL Survivors update:
Sadly three EL SDP45's are reported scrapped recently:
EL 3665 was wrecked on 11/10/07 numbered SP 8694, and was scrapped in Bertram PA sometime between 2007 and 2014.
EL 3654 was scrapped at Webb City Montana in June 2014, as UP 2767
EL 3662 was scrapped at Webb City Montana in June 2014, as UP 2771
Union Pacific had Six EL SDP45's on the roster that operated up to 2008.
One was wrecked in 2007, and the remaining five were retired in 2009.
In 2011 the five ex-UP units wound up stored in Webb City Montana, some lettered for NREX.
In June 2014, two were scrapped there:
EL 3665 / UP 2767
EL 3662 / UP 2771
Leaving only three EL SDP45's stored in Montana in 2014, and only six total surviving, in late 2014.
EL SDP45 survivior total drops from 9 to 6 units.
EL total survivor count drops from 88 to 85 units.
