I am looking for a map of the Erie in the Bronx near Yankee Stadium.
Any suggestions?

....Stauffer's ERIE POWER I think has something on it...look for old street maps of the city at antique shops, junk shops, etc.

There is an Erie Street in Dobbs Ferry very close to mercy college. Maybe someone should name a street "New York Central" in Lackawanna territory.

...on what Erie St. Dobbs Ferry was named for. Is Dobbs Ferry not opposite Piermont where the Erie origonally terminated? If so, Dobb's ferry went there to connect with the Erie (prpbaly named DF long before that, though). Or named after the canal or the lake or the county.
But to ease your mind, there are plenty of "NEW YORK" and "CENTRAL" streets, roads and avenues along both the Erie and Lackawanna railroad rights of way!

Hi,
If you want to see streets, individual buildings and tracks, try and get a Sanborn Fire Insurance Map of the south Bronx. Library of Congress and New York Public Library map rooms have copies. So does Bronx County Historical Society library. Sanborn maps are also available to private subscribers online, but pricey.
I don't have a reference handy, but RAILPACE magazine did an article on transfer facilities in the Bronx in the late 1980's. You might contact them for a copy of the back issue or xerox of the article.
