Here's a crime story tidbit from the NY Times, July 30, 1949. Can't quote more than this:
Since June 20, when the ticket office of the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad at 15 Rockefeller Plaza. was held up, [two detectives] had been on the lookout for a man who had robbed railroad ticket offices.
The two detectives were standing outside the Erie office [at 11 Rockefeller Plaza] when they saw Lewin approach. They said they saw him pull a loaded pistol out of his pocket and pounced on him. The detectives quoted their prisoner as saying, "You got me."
A discharged vet, he "carried a German automatic pistol and a little memorandum book allegedly listing twelve previous and seven prospective hold-ups."
It's not always emails that gets them.
