M&E C424 #18 headed eastbound at BAKER with 2 Maine Eastern coaches plus the Alexander Hamilton (?) en route to the MMC.

This is part of the consist for Thursday's special trip from/to Hoboken and Bay Head.

Saw them head east as well:
18 (as usual in dire need of a wash)
Morristown & Erie 'Birken'
M&E 'Alexander Hamilton'
M&E 'Morris County' recently shopped and now sporting the same NYC inspired gray and white paint scheme as the Birken. A sharp looking train.

This is quite appropriate since this car was originally a NYC 56 seat coach built by Budd ... although I realize NYC did not paint their Budd stainless steel cars.

The reason this car got painted is that it was origianlly part of the Preamble Expres for the American freedom Train and later served as a First Class car on the Chessie Steram Specials and Safety Expresses. The stainles steel was chemically etched prior to painting. When Ben Friedland acquired the car his Master Mechanic Tom "Chooch Painter" Martin attempted to remove the paint but when it was discovered that the car had been etched it was deemed too expensive and difficult to restore to its unpainted state.
