If a 4000 hp diesel can pull 40 cars by itself thats between 4000 and 5000 ton (1hp per ton) or better.
Yet to move the same 4000 ton you need 100 tractor trailers and each one has more that 1 hp per ton under hood ?? do they run with a 45 hp Yugo diesel or more like 350 hp per truck ???
