According to the "Bullsheet", ex- Conrail #1616 is CSXT #1534, just to clarify..........still on the roster.

I don't think dynamics have much to do with the sale, because the most I ever see these units used for on any road (NS, UP) is toting cars around or between yards. Sometimes NS/CR went crazy and put one on either end of the bottle train between Acme/ISG riverdale and NW indiana.

NS has been rebuilding many GP 38's for local and yard service which
may explain why the 15's are surplus and for sale.

eh...who needs a GP15-1 in the yard when you have a B40-8 switching cars up in Grand Rapids Mich. Hugart yard

I dont get it..... They had a B40 in that yard for a few months and now have a exCR OLS GP15 doing the dirty work now. I guess its truley what Elkhart has on hand and can send up......

I just read from another group that NS is gathering all of their B40-8's at Enola because they have sold them to CSX. If this is true, that could be why.

the new owner/owners info was not released yet. However, a couple of folks associated with different shortlines/regionals have made comments on other forums (nowhere at this website) about placing losing bids on the units. Will have to wait until January when the units are formaly retired and shipped off to see who ended up with what.

From my understanding the these ex CR GP15-1's were fully equipped with Cab Signals as well from what I read in one of my Conrail Locomotive data books.

I would have posted this early, but I just got back in from my run. NS 16N, as it went by Toledo, Oh., on Sunday at 15:00, had five GP15-1's dead in tow. NS 1447 (in OL), 1446 (in NS HH), 1405 (CRQ), 1454 (CRQ), and 1457 (OL).

1457?? That number rings a major bell.....
