Allen, you are correct on the MoPac RS-3M, 1200 HP units. Back in the last century, when I was brokering locomotives and other rail equipment, I had three of them for sale. They had 12-567BCs in them. I never saw them personally, though, so I have no idea what generators and alternators they had. Photos showed EMD fans up top, however.

Putting a 16-251 into an RS-11 had to have been a tight squeeze. I wasn't really aware of the MoPac conversion, but have seen drawings, prepared by Alco, for L&N to do the same conversion. The bolt pattern in the frame is different, of course, but the most interesting thing is that the aux. gen. actually stuck into the electrical cabinet a few inches! I believe L&N used an RS-11 hood, just like C&NW 1613 and 1624, but I'd have to look at Fallen Flags to be sure.

I'd love to have an NKP diesel equipment drawing book, BTW. One of my favorite roads, and I see five of their old GP-9s weekly.
