In August 1977 I photographed EL 1264 outside the Juniata Back Shop in Altoona with what appears to be severe wreck damage. Punched in nose and possible bent frame. I note a photo of 1264 on the Fallen Flags website at http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/el/loco/el1264gdb.jpg in Columbus, OH taken 11-76.
Anyone have any idea what happened to this unit that it incurred damage and what and when was it's final disposition.
Also anyone know if the EL 1230 ever operated under Conrail or was it laid up in EL days ? I have photos of it but always oos and not sure what happened to it. I don't believe it was ever renumbered, at least as an operating unit. Was this a troublesome unit on the EL roster ?
