I think you've covered just about every line , Philip , Except the one the earthquake was on .

I take a scatter gun approach. I'm bound to hit something. I'm like a blind person; I don't know what I'm looking for, but that railcar video shows off nice scenery.
Ciao, (I think that's Maori for so-long. - sorry Benny.)

The Maoris are not from Italy, where ciao means something like: so long.

David says that I have covered every line except the one the earthquake was on. Perhaps this is the one: the Wellington Cable Car. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wellington_Cable_Car" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Photo below: "Kelburne Cable Car from Salamanca station, 1910" It sounds kind of Spanish somehow.

Wellington was badly affected, I'm not sure if the cable car was or not.

Here is a video on the Coastal Pacific, the line that is closed.

Anyone heard from "John the fireman" , John Ashworth , he hasnt been on here since Nov 10th ? I hope he is ok , he did mention having trouble logging in from Sudan, but that he was only there for a week.

A very nice video, David. It never occurred to me to take my train pictures from a helicopter. It's good.
Sobering thought about John. I just looked at the Friends of the Rail websit and didn't see anything about a bereavement.
Here's a bit about Wellington and the recent earthquakes. http://earthquaketrack.com/p/new-zealan ... ton/recent" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Don't know if it is mentioned in any of these links, but the Supermarket chain that has a few $100 000 worth of food, stuck on the train north of Kaikoura, has donated it to the town of Kaikoura.
I believe the train is accessible by 4wd , and the army have suitable trucks in Kaikoura to retrieve it.

Interesting "stuff" video. Would the loss of rail service have an affect on you personally, David?
