When I was in Galesburg today I saw a DODX (Department of Defense Transpertation). On a Road Freight to Chicago. The windows were wired up and caged in. Is this one of a kind? Note it also had one 6 Axle Falt Car. Is this a rare catch?

The Military dose ship things to and from bases across the country as to what they ship who knows The Caboose most likley would have M.P.'s on board protecting what ever the load happens to be. I would call this a rare set of cars to see.

There are several cabooses in the lower 90x numbering range based at Naval Support Activity Mechanicsburg, PA. The caboose you saw is one of them. They come in various color schemes and inside you'll find radios, food preparation equipment, and sleeping accommodations. I don't think MPs ride in them, but instead they carry DOD guards. Given the other types of cars at NSA Mechanicsburg (visible from the fence, too), it's a fair bet the cabooses are used as escort cars for nuclear loads. (Before anyone gets bent out of shape at the mention of this information, let me add this is obvious just from casual observation, and even if someone doesn't notice then surely one's seeing dog does.)

I have seen this caboose in the yard at Portsmouth NH. It, or one like it, shows up when ever there is a shipment of nuke waste coming out of the Portsmouth naval ship yard, where they refuel submarines. The waste cars go across to the shipyard, while the caboose sits in the freight yard, some times for a week or more. besides radio equipment, it also has monitoring equipment and I think,a tracking device.
