How many were built? Over what time span? What did they cost? Did any not live to the end of service before NJT electrical makeover?

I have over 4,200 logged miles running them, and can still nuance their sounds.

...CAN BE FOUND IN TABER'S 2OTH CENT. BOOKS AND, I THINK, STAUFER'S ERIE POWER (LATER EDITIONS). SOME CARS..TRAILERS..WERE BUILT AS EARLY AS 1910. TOTAL: 141 MOTORS, 141 TRAILERS.

I believe that the fleet was virtually intact at the end of service. IIRC, the only set scrapped may have been a two car set that was headended by a pair of runaway switch engines that got away from crew at Lake Hopatcong and ran crewless to location just east of the Dover MU yards. Can't remember the exact did but maybe Henry6 can fill in details.

...were gone by the end. Probably between 30 and 50 were gone with at least 10 wrecked including one of the three RPO's. The other two RPO's were retired at the end of the mail contracts and scrapped as was several of the combines. The rest were attritioned out: as they went bad the just never returned. So out of the 141 and 141 there may have been as few as 110 motors and 110 trailers exclusive of combines. All three social club cars were intact, too.
