I drove past Pavonia Yard on River Road and saw a BNSF engine, so I went home to get my camera and rode the River LINE between 36th Street and Rand to photograph it.

It was a GE C44-9W

and was coupled to an ex-UP SD60:

Tucked in with the usual Conrail and NS locomotives was an Espee Tunnel motor!

Then heading back to 36th Street, I saw a second BNSF engine, so I took another round trip to Rand (free, since there was still more than an hour remaining on my POP ticket) to photograph it:

The quality of the photographs suffered from the day being heavily overcast in addition to photographing through the tinted windows on the River LINE cars.

That enabled me to re-photograph the diverse engines that I had photographed earlier.

Looks like that is a coal train! There were some good locomotives in those photos. The two already mentioned, a ex-SP unit and a Conrail Dash-8, would all make me smile if I saw them.

It's a stone train, to be delivered to SRNJ at Winslow Junction, for forwarding to Pleasantville.

Thanks Bob. I see that it's stone in the hopper now. I hope that stone train travels to the SRNJ today. I'm heading down that way today.

Correction on destination of stone: it went south on CA-90 overnight Sunday night. The power reportedly returned light early Monday morning.

Went on a south Jersey venture todat that concluded with a drive by Pavonia Yard. The EMD demonstrator was no longer visible in the late afternoon, but the variety was still good. There was three CSX SD45-2s there that I could see, 8973, 8976 & a DF unit that I could not see the number on. The power from the stone train, the BNSF and ex-UP SD60, was partially tucked under the 27th Street bridge.
