I heard on the radio this morning that LIRR service was suspended on the Port Jefferson Branch east of Huntington due to a freight train derailment. Anybody know what happened and where? Thanks.

Small derailment, rear truck of a flatcar derailed on the rear of the RS-81 train. Was rerailed by 7am in the morning. Kleet will soon no longer be active on the Port Jeff branch, as they will began to receive there cars in Yaphank at the Brookhaven Rail Terminal.

Why would Kleet opt for having their products delivered to Brookhaven ? Why incur trucking costs from there to Huntington when they have the spur on-site?

Will that be the end of freight on the PJ branch? No more customers since Nassau Suffolk disappeared as well as Gallo in Syosset.
