Train 509, 609, 612, 614 were all disabled. Most of the break downs happened between 72nd street and Harlem 125. AMMO towed 509 to Trk 7 at MO. Train 2329 rescued 614 and operated as passenger extra 4071x. 711 rescued 609. We also had a lot of problems with change over on the NHL. Spring can't come soon enough!

Hundreds Get Stuck on Hot Metro-North Train Leaving Grand Central

A Metro-North train leaving Grand Central Terminal during rush hour got stuck in a nearby tunnel for nearly an hour and a half, leaving hundreds of passengers sweating on a train without air conditioning during a heat wave in New York City.

The 7:21 p.m. Hudson Line train headed to Poughkeepsie got stuck for at least an hour and 20 minutes in the Park Avenue tunnel when the front engine quit, according to NBC Nightly News producer Rob Kaplan, who was on the train.

There was no air-conditioning, and the train quickly became very hot and uncomfortable. A conductor and a volunteer passenger walked through the train handing out water.

One attempt to attach the engine from the south and tow the train back to Grand Central failed, Kaplan said. Eventually, an engine attached from the north and towed the train up to 125th Street, where passengers were transferred to a waiting train.

Saugatuck RR Bridge Problem Delays Trains

UPDATE Problems closing the Saugatuck Railroad Bridge today delayed New Haven Line service for four hours, according to Metro-North. “The bridge had failed to fully close after an scheduled opening for marine traffic that took place a few minutes before 11 a.m.,” said spokesman Aaron Donovan. “It rectified at 11:26 a.m. when we closed and locked the bridge (making it available for train use), but as a result, three Metro-North trains and one Amtrak train were delayed by up to 25 minutes.” Metro-North later said delays continued until about 4 p.m. when it said trains were on or close to schedule.. Pictured is the scheduled 11:08 a.m. train to Grand Central halted on the bridge. The bridge— built in 1905 and actually not one, but two parallel bridges, each carrying two tracks—was also hit by a closing problem in September and July. (CLICK TO ENLARGE) WestportNow.com photo

It's a new year, and I decided to keep the same thread for delays. The title is altered for the new year however.

Looks like Wassaic has a mid-day bustitution. Equipment crap out or work disruption?

Looks like 917 and 925 SE to Wassaic, and 956 and 964 returns.

It wasn't a broken rail. Trains were able to safely operate over the affected section of track. A minor defect caused the track circuits to drop, forcing train to operate slower than usual through the area. Keep in mind how cold it was, metal contracts in cold so that might have played a part in this.
