When the cab car is placed mid train, the diapham will rub against the other car. The rubbing causes this wear that is visable.

I think that particular cab car's "front door" had a broken lock, so the IRM people stored it between runs either backwards or in between the other two cars they have so no one could get inside it.

No damage there. A little "buffing" of the diaphrams, against each other, has worn away the paint. This part of the car, is normally left unpainted, with some Teflon grease, or other suitable lubricant added, to aid slippage, and eliminate noises. There is nothing unusual in that car, except the buffer plate was painted. Regards :-D

The lock is fine, its from what the other users said. The car is involved in switching moves or stored with other peices of equipment coupled to it at times.
