The Delaware & Hudson on the Delaware & Ulster in Arkville, NY.

Delaware & Hudson ALCO RS-36 #5017
Image

Built in January, 1963 by ALCO (American Locomotive Co.) for the Delaware & Hudson RR, in system wide service until late 1980's, and was last RS-36 in service on D&H, retired in 1994. This diesel is the principal locomotive used to power D&U’s trains and is kept in tip-top shape by the D&U’s expert mechanical team.

Simply awesome! RS-36s are very rare birds these days- I think there are only 8 of them left, including another unit in full D&H lightning stripes on the Upper Hudson RR.

Its actually the DURR, no "&" ...
DURR in their web address, either DURR or D&R in their literature, and this in their entrance sign:

Ok, sorry about that then. Guess it doesn't matter much to them which way.

The original name of the road was the Ulster & Delaware Railroad.
