Does anyone have any info on the current status of the Middletown and NJ RR since the passing of the owner??

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

Pete Rasmussen's son continues to operate the railroad which serves a single customer (plastic pellets) in Middletown.

The family is cleaning the station and supposedly sending items to the M&NJ Historic Society. A full time book keeper is now on staff and at the station.

They are still running the train usually twice a week to serve Genpak. The NS train has come in on Thursdays to deliver / retrieve cars.

The train crew / track gang has been replacing ties this summer and the mainline has been sprayed so the weeds have been held at bay, the sidings are still weed grown but the general look of the property is improving.

Probably the closest thing New York State has to the Tonnerville Trolley. And I mean that in the nicest way. As long as people are interested in this line, it will most likely keep running in some form...
