I took a different route home a few weeks ago while coming down Rt 206. I ended up on 601 and saw a CSX train parked on the tracks on 601. I googled mapped the area and it looks like a big quarry back in there. Does anyone know what CSX is servicing back in there? Thanks
This is the Gibraltar Quarry (formerly 3M) in Belle Mead, on the CSX Trenton Line, and currently supplies CSX with RR ballast for the region, as well as construction grade stone for area contractors. I believe the CSX trains are scheduled as needed, but someone closer to the area may have additional info. Hope this helps....
