Back 50 yrs ago, there was quite a bit of interchange traffic between the B&O, C&EI and IC at Tuscola, IL.
What, if any, interchange traffic exists today? between what roads, and what commodities?

There is still a lot of interchange here. The biggest part of the traffic originates from Cabot and Lyondell West of town. The CSX interchanges it with the UP and CN. Its probably about a 50/50 split between the two. The volume varies day to day also. Somedays the switcher may come to town with 5 cars, the next 20. The bigger news around here now is that Cargill is expanding to the North of its current facility between the UP and the CSX, with all of the traffic going to the CSX. I know for sure they will have load out capabilities, not sure about receiving yet. The dirt work is well underway, with most or the track base complete. The balloon track is supposed to hold 110 cars. The CSX has put some major money into the line, replacing bridges, ties, and rail. On a trip thru Decatur last week I saw a Dash 8 sitting in the East end of the yard. Hopefully we will start seeing some 6 axle power through here!
