I was in Medfield this morning and heard B-729 working in the Walpole yard just west of Walpole center. When I went over the tracks on Rte. 27 I could cold see him working in the yard. He was chatting with the MBCR Branch Line dispatcher on Channel 54. Framingham was mentioned in one of the transmissions. I will update this post if I hear who if anyone is working B-729's usual Middleboro Line route.

The FRA supposedly ripped many engines in the area, don't know much more than that yet. I believe B729 might have gathered the Middleboro and Walpole engines to take them to Beacon Park or Framingham to be repaired. I do know that B733 will be doing some extra journeys tonight as well, but I don't know for sure what they will be doing, but if B729 left it's power in Framingham, Walpole or Beacon Park, B733 will probably return everything back to where it came from.

BTW, you sure it was B729 and not B725 or B735? I know B729 worked the Chocolate in Mansfield because B735's power was ripped.

Ya, it was B729, Pete was the engineer. And I did not hear a freight working Brockton all afternoon.

wow, i didnt' know the power situation was this bad. is there any engines for B725 and B726 to work tongiht? where are all the GP40-2's?

Sounds like a freight just came in to Brockton at 9:50. Not sure who it is, have not heard any radio traffic yet. It is CSX B-726, he is working Champion by Grove Street in Brockton at 9:58pm.

Actually the root of the problem was that Amtrak took Mansfield Interlocking out of service during the wee hours of Thursday and didn't feel the need to inform CSX. Amtrak was supposed to have the track back in service by 300am but didn't. Both nite jobs outlawed,725 at Mansfield and 726 at Attleboro. The rest of the day was spent playing catch up with other crews doing other crews work. Things didn't return to normal until late Thursday pm .

yea thats all true, i talked to the crew of B735 and the conductor on that job had to pick up B725 bring it to Attleboro and bring the selkirk cars back to Framingham

B727 crew: Brought B726 from Boro to Middleboro

B735: Took B725 from Boro to Framingham

B729: Taxied to Walpole to work B735

B726/09: Champion & I believe normal work thereafter.

BTW, Peter is the conductor on B729, not the engineer.

B729 was on his regular schedule this morning. I was heading into the big city today and B729 was in the Braintree yard waiting for my train to clear so he could head south. The leader was CSX 6209 and the second engine was CSX 6237. I was also monitoring channel 92 on my trip.

What time was it when you reached Braintree Station? Am I correct t think that they had arrived, dropped the loads off, picked up the emptys, ran around their train and were ready to head back to Middleboro by 9:00 am or so?

What time does B-729 go on duty?

Paul

I usually hear B729 in the area from 9-5, not sure when he starts in Middleboro. He usually follows MBCR 017 or 019 back to the barn, then he goes down the west "Y" in Middleboro. He goes back and forth on the line during the day, he does not work one end to the other. I was in Braintree about 1:40pm on MBCR 016.

B729 goes to wrok M-F @ 730am in Middleboro.

F40: Amtrak owns the track, they don't need to inform us, unfortunately. They thought they'd have the track back in service but lost some time due to the inclement weather as well as B733 holding @ Mansfield for almost a 1/2 hour to wait for 178 to pass and follow 178 east on track #2 because they were working on track #1.

Colony Line: Do you have to announce every little detail of the crew's day?!? Reading a paper is a no-no, and we never know who else is reading this. BTW, Peter is the conductor, not the engineer.
