I was wandering if anyone knows how much it costs to rebuild an old GP38, GP38-2 to a like new condition, and who does the work?

MPI does work like that and cost depends on what you have done. prices are as high as 1.3 million $$ per unit.

Also depends on unit condition and duty cycle - a unit previously owned by a grain silo cooperative or the Army was probably used gently, while the South Shore's geeps are used hard every day to lug coal and steel from the mills - the teardown has to go further to correct more problems.
