The City of Cordele Downtown Development Authority is constructing Cordele Railway Park located downtown adjacent to the Cordele Railroad Diamond just West of Hwy 41/7th Street.

The Diamond is a unique railroad structure where three different railroads: CSX, Northfork Southern and the Heart of Georgia Railroad, intersect. This location is great for RailFans to watch trains.

Cordele Railway Park will have an observation platform, parking area and a large green space. Historic markers detailing the railroad history of Cordele will be displayed as well.

Construction of the Railfan Platform is well underway with foundation and concrete block work in progress.

Thomas the Train will be coming to Cordele for 3 weekends beginning October 17th. This would be a great mix for RailFans of all ages.

Cordele Main Street will sponsor a Rail Fan Festival on November 14th. The Festival will have activities for kids, vendors, modal train exhibits and SAM Shortline Excursion Train will come again to town for short train rides.

Hopefully, the Park will be completed and dedicated at that time.

Come to Cordele to watch trains and to ride SAM Shortline.
