Conway Scenic engine just went thru Lancaster headed towards Groveton. Anybody know what is going on ?

NHCR is borrowing the 216 until they can get the 318 shipped down to Groveton

Someone reported that 216 is on loan and will be spending the winter assigned to N. Stratford. I guess we shall see.

That makes sense, as it was indeed 216 that brought 4 hoppers south from Groveton this morning.

Presby is apparently taking cars again at Hazen. 216 went north thru Lancaster this afternoon

216 was picked up by St. Lawrence & Atlantic and shipped to N. Stratford, it will be spending the winter there working on the New Hampshire Central/VTR. VTR is supposed to be sending an engine to N. Conway for inspection, not sure if that's happened yet. The last passenger excursion to Crawford's is January 4th, after that the notch will be shut down for the winter so that inspection must be happening soon.

No, it hasn't. I figured they would have swapped 318 when they brought 216 up, but that now leaves them with both units on the western end.

That was my question elsewhere. If they've been able to do it for 7324 all these years, something must have changed.

No decisions have been made about continued operations to Crawford Depot after January 4th. They would like to continue through the entire winter if conditions allow for it, even if they have to scale back the train to Willey Brook Bridge or even Frankenstein Trestle. Either way I would expect something going west this winter, they just have nailed down the turn around point.

The notch winter trips were just updated and they go to vacation week in february, so line will be open all winter
