Is 7470 out of service again?

Probably. They would’ve announced a schedule by now and with Mass Bay doing an event with the 66/68, it seems unlikely we will see 7470 by the end of 2022. I could be completely wrong on this though.

7470 is OOS until spring, this is basically the Steam in the Snow replacement.

Does Conway Scenic have any intentions in the future to make another railfan trip to the Ball signal in Whitefield?

It looks like paid parking may be coming to the streets/side roads of North Conway.

I imagine this isn't going to go great for business at the CSRR... they're smack in the middle of the project (Pine to Depot Sts) and includes side roads. The North Conway yard is already tight on parking.... my last visit I had to park in the condo complex at the bottom of the steep hill.

Perhaps a better course of action for the "Mountaineer" would be to direct those guests to park in their Depot St lot (MEC/North Conway, Kearsarge, along the N/S road). I've boarded a couple railfan trips out of that platform in the past. While there are no restrooms, something could be set up. The return trip could then "layover" at the real North Conway station for XX minutes, before returning to the MEC North Conway" station".

Unlikely any time soon. They said after the last trip that their resources were better allocated elsewhere.

Carl Thibodeau, Mary Carey Seavey and John Colbath are the 3 responsible for jamming it down the towns throat, with zero regard for anyone else's opinions on the matter, it's what they want and that's all that matters, everyone else can take a hike.
As for the railroad, we could see some major operational changes coming as a result of the parking meters. They don't have enough room in N. Conway to offer free parking for all their riders, but they do have room in Conway, something that's already been demonstrated with the 4th of July shuttle trains and with and actual designed parking lot, can probably fit a lot of cars down there. As previously mentioned, there's also Kearsarge Siding and dear I say Red Stone for additional room? Red Stone was the planned (more talk than plan) park and ride locations for shuttle trains, that was eventually abandoned when NorthSouth Rd was built.

There is a fair amount of parking down below the north yard at N. Conway. This lot, shared with the hotel, was always the overflow parking for the Thomas event and other big deals...I believe it's still free public parking and would continue to be free. Might have to push that old skoolie into shuttle service!!!

Might be worth trying to market the train as an option for guests staying in Comway, Bartlett, or Glen to help avoid traffic and parking fees.

As to Whitefield....
The railroad has to get special permossion from the state and/or feds and requires having NHCR staff involved in the operations as well which I'm sure is fun to explain for libility insurance.

At least one hotel is right next to the tracks between N. Conway and Conway. Worth building an Attitash-style platform and offering pickups?

While I would say it would be a great idea to have the notch train board at N/S road, there are a few issues with that.

First they would need engines on both end or one positioned at redstone for the move back to conway. They can’t shove back since they have no cab car-type deal here. And as we know 255 and 216 carried the operations this summer. We know what happens when one breaks down…

Secondly it would take a bit to create a platform-type station there. This isn’t an Attitash where one or two passengers are getting on, we have five cars of people boarding so there would be need to accommodate for more space. Maybe a movable platform over the siding they can move for railfan weekend (which doesn’t even happen anymore sadly)?

Conway Station is a good option, we’ve seen it done before, but do we really want to add an extra 30-45 minutes to the excursion?

There isn't enough room off Depot Rd to handle everyday boarding and unboarding of passengers. There's no room for parking and no room for any type of a station. If I recall correctly, that tiny platform was put in place for the (never materialized) shuttle trains, to and from the Red Stone. The reality is the only location that could handle a high volume of people aside from N. Conway, is Conway. You can'include Glen or Bartlett because and there's no place to park.

Anything is possible if you throw enough money at it. The marketing team would have to be very vocal to customers, people are so used to going to North Conway they would have to make doubly sure that the customer knows where they go. For the Valley train North Conway seems ideal because that train turns into the Sawyer turn if I remember. Conway for special excursions and maybe a more traditional dinner train could be an idea.
