:-) I am trying to locate information pertaining to rebuilding the old "R2D2" type control stand and the air operated switch gear used on original production GP's and SW's. I have an EMD parts catalog but really need some shcematics and maintenance books. Also trying to find schematics on Conrail/PC Altoona modified GP30's and 35's on how they "normally" rewired these for 4 steps of transition. I understand the theory of what they did but am trying to fix a couple of burnt up messes and want it back original

Thanks much!

On stuff which is original EMD, your best bet is to contact Rail Systems Inc. in Houma, Louisiana, and see if they would be willing to copy some of their technical reference material for you.

On the stuff rebuilt by Conrail Altoona, I can't provide any suggestions. One of the local shortlines is up against exactly the same problem. If it was a Boise rebuild, you could still get information but I know of no comparable technical support for past projects out of Altoona. Maybe some other contributor to the forum can provide a contact there.
