The US /Canadian "standard" is gradually moving from 286,000 pounds to 315,000 pounds for interchange traffic. I'd suspect the M&E is assuring any upgrades it does now will meet the 315 standards. Shortlines that don't meet 315 won't be able to accept any heavier cars shipped to their customers

The Whippany main line will get ballast as soon as the RRC is done with the rail and ties. This is being paid for with grant money. The whole high bridge branch will also get re-ballasted when the Whippany line is complete and will be a 30 mph line.

Is that Asphalt company west of the crossing a customer ?
When will Polaner resume rail shipments ?
I saw the tracks are still OOS/removed at the crossing today.
