Built by the Budd Company for the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad as a 6 double bedroom, 5 compartment sleeping car. The car was built for service on the California Zephyr and was sold by the CB&Q to Amtrak in 1971. The car went through Amtrak's Heritage Fleet rebuild and was finally retired in 1995. Only 8 cars of this series were built and Silver Thrush is one of three cars that exists from the series.
