It's over, folks. End of an era. 400+ hourly workers let go, 200+ salary workers when the plant finally closes. A sad day for both.

Supposedly, London will re-open temporarily (until Sept 2012) to fulfill a UP order. Hmmm..

Did they finish the locos that were being built there or where they packed up and sent down to Muncie? When did the plant actually close down, and did they already start removing tooling and equipment from it, and now have to put it all back?

There are 7 ? locomotives at London in various stages of completion.

Yes, some production equipment was removed and distributed among the other assembly plants. Don't know if any of it will be returned.

There are at least 13 UP and 15 EMD lease fleet units at London. Two UPs have been released already.

Is LaGrange being used for anything?
