I see Otto's point, Robert, and am beginning to side with him. It's not the Monday morning quarterbacking that becomes a problem as much as it is uninformed conjecture and accusations by those not in the know along with fear mongering by the ignorant...it happens too often already around railfan forums without having to add wrecks and accidents as a specific forum to the list.

Accidents happen all the time on various railroads for various reasons. If you're really interested in the cause of accidents, you can request copies of NTSB investigation packets when they conclude an accident report. They go into great detail, the history of the line, operating conditions, any factor that could affect the situation.

Much better than bantering about with a bunch of Monday morning quarterbacks about what the crew should have done, etc.
