The segment south of the Fernald, OH was known as the Cheviot Hill route. It ran high above the valley on high overpasses, and the steep grade made it diffcult top run freight trains out of Cincy. The line was closed in 1978 and torn up to make way for Queensgate Yard. Amtrak's Cardinal took the B&O into Cincy via Cottage Grove, Indiana. The segment from Cottage Grove to Fernald sees a grain train and a nuclear train a couple times week. I have heard rumors this line might only last for another few years.

Does anyone know when the Cheviot Hill trestles were removed? They were closed in 1978, but were they removed right away, or did they wait a few years?
