Correct.
pumpers wrote:I'm still learning about the Buffalo area. Just south of CP Draw, where all the tracks are next to each other (a bit north of the Tifft St overpass) I think the current yards & tracks are (from east to west):
South Buffalo Railway
B&P RR (ex BRP)
NS (ex Nickel Plate or maybe ex PRR)
Buffalo Southern (ex Erie)
CSX (ex NYC) -- with CSX Seneca yard further south from the others...
NS is ex-NKP.
pumpers wrote: LV (to Tifft yard) and PRR (Penn Yard? Ridge Yard?) used to be west of CSX, not sure if anything is still there or who it belongs to.
The 2 CSX tracks west of the ex-NYC main are former LV yard tracks that connect Seneca Yard to the former BCK yard at Ohio Street.

I see just one track from Seneca Yard up through the LV Tifft site (IIRC this is still known as LV 27 or the LV Runner, or something like that) that runs up to Ohio St. There's a second track through the LV yard site that connects to the mainline well north (RR east) of Tifft St.

Buffalo's always been hard to figure out with so many railroads jammed in on top of one another and then all mixed up with the elimination of so many of them in one shot. I've always presumed LV accessed the Tifft yard via the belt line, down, around, and back north again. Be nice to look at a good, detailed, 1975 or 1960-ish map.

pumpers wrote:Matt, thanks. Not to stray to far off topic, but while we are at it, who owns/operates the former Buffalo Creek tracks/yards up in the elevator area and just south/west of CP Draw? JS
The BCK tracks belong to CSX. I've seen a few Geeps stationed in the Ohio Street Yard.

I went back and checked- you arecorrect. It looks like CSX removed the leg of the wye that connected the LV yard track to the Ohio Street Yard. Only Track 17 connects to the former BCK now.

SST wrote:How do they get to the Frontier yard? Is there new track laid that google isn't showing? I haven't looked at a diagram.
If you mean entering Buffalo on the ex PRR line from Harrisburg, I see what you mean - no direct connection to Frontier at Buffalo Junction (on Google maps), unless you do a reverse move.

If you took that cutoff from Gardenville junction (Ebeneezer?) we have been talking about and then went on the bridge over all the tracks to get to CSX Seneca yard, you could then continue north over CP Draw (or that other CSX bridge, CP1?) to get to Frontier. But from what I have seen posted it seems like that cutoff has just been used for car storage lately and not traffic.

The B&P local goes to Frontier, which is an easy connection from the east end of Buffalo Creek Yard to CSX via CP Draw. I don't think the B&P road freight goes to Frontier.

The Gardenville Line has had cars on it for nearly 2 years or so. A year or so before that, there were car on it but they moved them off one night. But shortly after, more cars came and they haven't moved since.

Yes, there are spine cars stored there and while I didn't compare car numbers, I cross the bridge at the 219 split twice a year and nothing has changed in at least that long.

Is there a way to scroll through these photos at GreatRails.net?

Or do I have to view them one at a time and then return to this post at railroad.net and click on the next link?
