BM&R 425 To Live Again

It is being reported on www.rypn.org that former GM&N #425 4-6-2 will be steaming by this time next year. This has been confirmed on another board from at least one Reading and Northern employee.

Restored by who? Run where?

Otto, it is being restored by the Reading and Northern for their own use. They run excursions regularly out of Jim Thorpe and an October completion date that has been put forth makes me think they want to use it for fall foliage specials. Otherwise, Muller operates trips over other parts of his system for special occasions and community events. Might see it on some of those.

I'm glad to see the return to steam, but why now? How long has that engine been out of service?

I'm guessing the success of the Lehigh Gorge trips. Has not run since 95 or 96 I think? Enjoy it while it lasts because tomorrow never comes.
