Big Blue lashup in Syracuse 5/4

Spotted a Conrail blue lashup entering DeWitt Yard with an eastbound merchandise train shortly after noon today - C40-8W 7921 (still with 'LMSX' lettering) and 'Conrail Quality' SD50 #8671.

Hard to believe I'm getting excited about a couple of Conrail blue locomotives ... how things have changed in 5 years.

Were they actual CR numbered or were they CSX renumbers?

All CR locos lost their numbers - EVERY ONE are patched up! no original numbers are left, i believe. unless Die-Hard currently employers of EX conrailers hid one in the shed.. Just like during EL days where a bunch of Erie employers kept erie 531 ( I think) in original paint and number until conrail took over ( if i read and remember right). They hid them in shop/shed everytime they heard big bosses are coming through.

They were renumbered - typical yellow numbers on the cab.
