Bay Colony Millis Line

Does anyone have any idea on when the 1701 is going to be in operation again?

The line is clear of all cars.

Island Road is inundated with horsefly's (deerfly's or gadflies). Just driving through the unloading area, swarms of flies circled the car.

You would require a bee-keepers outfit if outside.

Can't imagine Tresca or Old Colony employee's working in those conditions.

May be the reason why we haven't seen any cars in a while.

Looking back through this thread, after the initial delivery of cars early Spring 2017, the Millis line did not receive any additional cars until July 29th of last year. Looks like another (5) weeks of anticipation.

Checked out the Walpole yard for signs of cars for Millis but nothing there...

Pretty Quiet in the yard ... Road crew replacing rail on the Franklin line east of Walpole station.

The 1701 was active last week as the following cars are staged at Island Road waiting to be unloaded:

Horse/Deer Fly activity is still strong in that area.

I was fortunate enough to see the 1701 in action today.

Witnessed the 1701 arriving at Island Road to move the (6) NAHX empties to the secondary switch.

The confusing part was it appeared to be (2) TILX cars (30760 & 30873) full on the siding at the switch.
The 1701 simply pushed the empties and connected the string.

I thought the 1701 would have dropped the NAHX cars on the Millis siding, run around and picked up the TILX cars, reversed, then pushed the empty NAHX to the switch, and finally moved the TILX cars to Island road.

Maybe I missed something.

The (2) Full TILX cars 30760 & 30873 remain on the spur by the switch and NAHX 94682 has been added.

1701 should be moving these to Island Road for unloading soon.

1701 was in action this morning moving CAIX 95637 & TILX 31095 from the secondary switch to Island Road for unloading.

From my house I can hear BCRR 1701 using its horn and another engine (most likely CSX dropping off cars in Medfield) using its horn aswell. I assume they are moving cars. I will be down on Island Road tomorrow to check it out.

Not sure if this is new but the plants that were previously on the rails have all died. Bay Colony Crew must’ve brought plant killer and got rid of them. Another interesting thing I found there today was a dirty jacket; labeled Atlantic Forest Products. Not sure what that’s about.
