Does anyone have a contact person for the Baldwin Diesel in storage on the old Loring A.F.B. property in Limestone, Maine? My understanding is it is owned by a private individual who want to see it preserved. If you have factual contact information, please PM me. If you have any lead information, place it in this thread.

Thank you.

Two previous discussions of this locomotive on Railroad.Net here:

Perhaps the "Loring Commerce Center", the current operator
of the facility "might" and I stess might, provide some information.
Looks like they are selling former AF fire trucks, but no loco listed.

This was posted in the MMA forum a few years ago:
Tom Tancula wrote:The unit is a low mileage Baldwin, I believe an S-12. One of MMA's top mechanical experts looked at the unit soon after MMA started. It appeared to be in complete and in running condition, and even had a Kim Hot Start unit. Since the branch line is isolated, the locomotive would need to be lifted with a crane and trucked out to the nearest rail head.

The down side was possible deterioration of motor and generator insulation, and possible asbestos on the cooling water piping.

I'm sure SMS Rail Services down here in Jersey would be interested. They're the premier collector of Baldwins.
