This could have been the stove/heater. They did this once in a while if
nobody was there to watch them.

Too bad about about the caboose. At least the caboose was not under the overpass when this happened.

Now the crews will get claims for shoving without a caboose, gotta think positive.

Let's see what would probably happen to those claims---

"There are visible window openings on the side of the car. Denied."

"There is obviously plenty of illumination (from a source other than electricity) in the car. Denied."

"There is obviously a functioning stove and plenty of heat in the car. Denied."

Looks like "Fun With Fusees" by the local urchins. Or possibly that good old Vapor Caban heater-- "Is the damn oil flowin' or what? Can't see in the bottom of the stove, let 'er flow for a while and we'll come back and drop a fusee in and see if she lights then...."
