Amtrak Gets a MORE money from Congress

As of July 21, 2005, Amtrak has gotten a $1.2 Billion dollar grant from Congress. I think that this is stupid. Awhile ago, it was announced that Amtrak was to be getting NO MORE MONEY and what happens??? Also it was announced that there was a possibility that 'FRIGHT ROADS' such as Norfolk Southern, BNSF, and CSX would be able to once again offer passenger service as was that custom till' Amtrak was formed. I think that Amtrak should be allowed to go out of Business, and let the FREIGHT LINES take over the passengers again.

I would have to strongly disagree. American's need trains.

I don't think Class One railroads will be taking up the passenger cause any time soon. If Amtrak can't make it with a government subsidy, why would the Class Ones even think of spending a dime that would lose them twenty cents?

Shouldn't this be in the Amtrak forum?
