That may be falling under the Temp Service Adjustments due to COVID. https://www.amtrak.com/alert/temporary- ... tions.html
Suspension of two weekly departures on nine long distance routes between January 24 and March 27, reducing weekly service from daily to five days per week; routes include:
Southwest Chief, California Zephyr, Empire Builder, Coast Starlight, Crescent, Texas Eagle, Capitol Limited, Lake Shore Limited and City of New Orleans.

NBC Chicago is forecasting 9" of snow beginning this tomorrow Afternoon Feb 1 and continuing through Thursday morning:

I think NBC Local Weather is "the best of the bunch"; so in response, here's what Amtrak scrubs:

I may think differently "on the other side", but it appears somebody got a little "CX happy".

I'd expect more on the east coast the next day as the storm moves through from Chicago through to New England/Mid-Atlantic coast.

We should note that Amtrak shows 380-383, Zephyr/Carl, operating on both (2) and (3).

Weather Channel thinks "we're in for a pasting".

But alas, no three mile Daily (well. most) walk; think I know how I will exercise. (single lane, 40ft drive; 80yo in no rush, but neighbors will be "Gil, you shouldn't be doing this")

That's the same here around the Baltimore/DC area, but it'll be late afternoon Friday on the switch-over.
