Adirondack Div. Malone-Montreal traffic?

Besides the (probably better known) Lake Clear Jct - Lake Placid line, the Adirondack Div had another route, north to Malone, NY and I guess perhaps from there north to Montreal (?). What kind of traffic used that route? Any kind of freights?
