What's the current level of train activity on the former D&H line from Albany to Montreal? There are the Amtrak trains each day but I don't know what freight trains are running. It sounds like the CSX will add two trains per day to the mix. I would like to do some train watching/photography in the Willsboro and Port Henry areas of New York and was wondering what I could expect for frequency.

Thanks for your inputs.

The D&H line from Albany to Montreal Currently sees 4-5 trains a day on average.

Northbounds:

CP 253 (CP Power) Freight/Intermodal. Operates Binghamton to Montreal. Daily.
CP 931 (NS Power) CN/NS freight. Operates Harrisburg, PA to Montreal. Daily.
CP 667 (CP Power) Ethanol Emptys. Operates as Needed. (approx. 1 time per week for now)
CP 6?? (CP Power) Ethanol Emptys. Operates as Needed.
Amtrak 69 Operates Albany to Montreal. Daily

Southbounds:

CP 252 (CP Power) Freight/Intermodal. Operates Montreal to Binghamton. Daily.
CP 930 (NS Power) CN/NS freight. Operates Montreal to Harrisburg, PA. Daily
CP 666 (CP Power) Ethanol Loads. Operates as Needed.
CP 6?? (CP Power) Ethanol Loads. Operates as Needed.
Amtrak 68 Operates Montreal to Albany. Daily

Future Trains.

CP 620/621 will be the new CSX haulage trains operating between Selkirk and Montreal with CSX/CN power via the D&H. The CSX Haulage trains are expected to be running the D&H routing by the end of November 2010 pending approval by the FRA. Also there will be a third pair of Ethanol train symbols added to run approx. 3 times a week to the New Albany Enthanol Facility. On top of a future 3 trains a week over the Green Mountain Gateway to New England using the 2 existing symbols.

This will eventually lead to at least 8-10 + trains a day operating on the D&H Canadian Main with future growth expected on top of that.
