Some background
With the demise of railroading in the Troy, NY. area during the
mid 50's,thoughts surfaced as to what to do with the former
roadbed that at one time was used by B&M,D&H,NYC and the
Rutland. The solution was to build a road from the Congress St.
tunnel north to the former B&M yards at Hoosick St.
The tunnel was one block long from Ferry to Congress St. It
had to be filled in as it was not part of the new road plan.
Now to the fact/fiction part. What was it filled with ?
Rumors persist that PART of the fill was passenger/freight cars!

Does any one have more info on this ?
