Seems something different was done tonight. The Trainmaster had the railroad from MP 18(Elmwood Park) to Park taken out of service under his authority. This allows(among other things) multiple movements within that area, in effect creating something similar to yard limits where no authority other than the permission of the holder of the Out of service authority, in this case, "Mobile 43" is needed. The 100 dropped his cars west of Midland Avenue at PC, in Saddle Brook(MP 17.20).
The 100 cut away from his cars and tied on to the 99 train, which was pulled west from WS earlier, under the line authority mentioned above. The 99 crew set up the engines for westward operations, and then charged their train, armed their marker and got their brake test per normal operating procedures.
In the mean time, one of the WS crews ran light west from "PARK" and tied on to the 100's train and then proceeded east to Little Ferry. as they had 3 units, they split the power upon arrival at Cross St in Bogota, and the respective crews took their power and the train was yarded. when they pulled east, and the 99 verified the marker on the inbound tain, they then proceeded west, and having gotten the forom D to run west from MP 18, they were on their way.
Not sure if this will be a regular occurance, but I'm guessing it had something to do with the 100's late arrival and the need to get the 99 out ASAP. Don't be surprised if this situation, all perfectly legit) happens again. Stay tuned. in the mean time, tonights(Tuesday) SU-100 was on at 6:30 PM with 4 units(the ones from Monday night) and 11 cars. Should hit port Jervis around 11:45PM. power should be: 3012, 3016, 3664, 3010 but not sure of the exact order

I bet the FRA would be interested in this new "method" of train operations. A track warrant, with Work between- joint authority already provides for crews working together, in over-lapping territory, in either direction......
